I felt like that movie had potential, it was just kind of a mess. Movies with good concepts and poor execution are the ones that should get remade. Even if realistically it's more risky and less profitable than banking on a classic. I liked how it incorporated some of the ancient traditions behind Halloween, but because of that I would have liked it to feel more "mystical" and less sci-fi. I'd also like to see it have more of a Halloween/autumn atmosphere to it. Basically, I'd like it to have the plot cleaned up and look/feel more like Trick R Treat.

I do love the masks and the commercial jingle. If it's ever remade, I'd want it to still be set in the 80s. I wish this movie would have been better made when it came out, because I love the idea of "Halloween" being an anthology series rather than slasher movies. Also, it would have worked better if it was the second movie.

When the third movie doesn't have the same villain, you can't blame people for getting upset over the omission. At the risk of sounding like a complete grump (“Please get off my lawn, if you don’t mind too terribly”), kids/young adult movies were a lot better in the ’80s. I know, I know…everything was better back in the day, right? Far from being a knee-jerk condemnation of anything new and au courant, however, I actually have some solid reasoning behind my opinion (mixed with plenty of good, old-fashioned personal prejudices, of course). Sure, there was plenty of awful, commercial, soulless bullshit out there, just like there always is, but there was also a pretty unbeatable string of absolute classics that came out between 19: Time Bandits (1981), E.T.
